The Olympic 200m champion was spotted pulling submerged vehicles out of the deep water in Gaborone
Letsile Tebogo, who secured Botswana’s first ever Olympic gold medal in Paris last summer, has saved stranded drivers from floodwaters in Botswana.
The Olympic 200m champion came to the aid of motorists whose cars were submerged due to the severe flooding in the capital Gaborone.
Tebogo, in a video which was widely shared on social media, was seen using his 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser to pull other cars out of the deep water. Heavy rains in Botswana led to floods and the closure of main roads across the country.

The 21-year-old created history last year after he became Botswana’s first ever Olympic champion with 200m gold in the French capital, clocking an African record of 19.46 – a time that placed him fifth on the all-time list over half a lap.
He then followed that up by helping Botswana’s men’s 4x400m team secure an Olympic silver medal, finishing behind the United States.
Over the course of the season, Tebogo dipped under 20 seconds in the 200m on nine occasions, showing remarkable consistency throughout his campaign.

The Motswana also claimed silver and bronze medals in the 100m and 200m respectively at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest.
Tebogo, a double world under-20 100m champion and 200m silver medallist, is still the official 100m record-holder for that age category, after he clocked 9.91 in 2022.
He also holds a world best of 30.69 for the 300m and has clocked 44.29 in the 400m.
